Do not overstay if staying with locals

Driving in New Zealand is like driving through some magical fantasy land (it really kind of IS Middle-Earth). There are so many amazing landscapes — and they can change drastically even when you’re just driving for a couple of hours.

DO let people pass you if you’re driving slowly (it’s actually the law!)

DON’T stop on the side of the road to take photos, no matter how pretty the view is, If there’s no designated pull-off, driveway, or large shoulder for you to stop on, just keep driving.

DON’T Tip, it’s not customary in New Zealand. However, if the service was outstanding, a tip is most certainly appreciated!.

Dress appropriately

DON’T enter a marae without seeking permission first

Do visit one of the sunrise beaches, to see the first sign of the sun.
